Camilla D’Errico explores beauties and beasts in new art book

Camilla D’Errico might be a more familiar name to those in the art world than the comic world but with an style that has even Grant Morrison taking notice (the two are slated to collaborate on a book for Vertigo) its safe to say you’ll be seeing a lot from her in the future.

Lucky for you, D’Errico’s new art book, Femina & Fauna-The Work of Camilla D’ Errico is a perfect introduction to the artist’s talent. The book, filled with illustrations of animals and glassy-eyed females might sound  like a “cutesy” idea but is presented with great skill.  It is true that the tone of the images are often somewhat playful, the characters seem to also convey a certain haunting sadness. The mixture is compelling, unique, and powerful.

The 112 page book, from Dark Horse, will hit shelves February 2nd. Until then you can check out more of Camilla’s work here. You won’t be disappointed.
